E-Commerce

E-commerce is the buying and selling of goods and services through the Internet and other digital media. E-commerce provides a convenient, efficient, and cost-effective method for modern businesses to engage commerce activities. E-commerce application development environments assist with the creation of secure, reliable, and high-performing e-commerce applications. Many of these e-commerce applications are Web-based, leveraging the power of the Internet to connect buyers and sellers.

E-commerce systems are critical to integrate into the enterprise. E-commerce relies on connecting with data and functionality to applications like supply-chain management, inventory management, shipping & logistics, and CRM. For example, to display a real-time view of the inventory on a Web site requires connection to the inventory control system, such as that found in SAP's ERP suite. Open3.org E-commerce adapters provide a rapid way for e-commerce frameworks and their developed applications to connect to other systems and unlock their full potential.

We currently have projects for the following e-commerce adapters:

  • Zelerate AllCommerce
  • Red Hat Interchange

If you have experience in these systems and would like to contribute to adapter development and/or testing, visit the project page to become a participant. Our community is also looking for project leaders for e-commerce adapters like these:
